The round tent, called a ger, stood alone at the edge of the steppe—a region of vast, flat grasslands in Mongolia. Temujin and Borte shared this ger with family and friends. Together, they formed a small clan of thirteen people.

Most clans lived close together, forming communities of thousands called tribes. But Temujin’s clan lived alone and isolated.

An old woman was awakened by vibrations in the ground.

Hoofbeats. Coming closer.

She screamed for everyone to wake up. Someone was coming!

Three hundred men on horseback from the Merkid tribe raced toward Temujin’s ger. Eighteen years earlier, Temujin’s father—a man named Yesugei—had kidnapped his mother from her Merkid husband. Now Temujin was grown, with a wife of his own. The Merkid wanted revenge.

Yeah, be careful of this book. There are a few disturbing scenes. Lots of beheadings. Nasty stuff done with the heads, also.

Feeling the Fuzzy love.

I am a 70 year old woman who read and loved the origional Fuzzy stories by Piper when I was in college. I hated that there were only the 3 books. The only thing wrong with Pipers books were thier brevity. Mr.Diehr has brought the Fuzzy's new life! His style of writing is very "Piper". He is walking in Pipers shoes and he fills them well! Both "Fuzzy Ergo Sum" and "Caveat Fuzzy" feel like sequels to the origional stories. I only hope there are more coming. If I were to offer one word of advice, it would be that the titles are perhaps a bit obscure for the average reader. The "average" reader of this genre might be put off by the Latin titles and not pick up the books, which is a shame as they will be missing out on a really fun read! Please! Keep on writing and keep the Fuzzies alive.

I loved the story, the flow, the feeling it was a H Beam Piper story. I say anyone that is a fan of this author should own this book.

Caveat Uber Allez

Caveat Fuzzy completes the story started in Fuzzy Ergo Sum, and does it well. The writer mastered H. Beam Piper's voice in a way none of his other followers managed to do, and stays within the universe that Piper created back in the 1950's. The introduction of new characters and past histories of some of the established characters add to the story nicely. I look forward to Diehr's next book, hopefully another Piper based work.
