Very good resource

Very good resource, this was a mandatory buy for a theory class on the older adult (MSN FNP program). We had two mandatory books to buy for this course and I preferred the other text for how the information is organized but I used this every week for writing papers and presentations. Because our exams were so heavily dependent on information from the text, I purchased a downloadable book from another website (not Amazon) and it would not download and the site would not refund my money. Medscape and Epocrates have more current information, this being printed in 2013, but I still found the information very valuable.

GREAT book for my new job...I've been an NP to college students and in urgent care, but this is the first time I've been a nurse practitioner for a geriatric house call practice and this book is perfect. I am really enjoying the format, the timely and research backed treatment protocols and the compassionate, well written style for advising anyone in the business of taking care of old folks! (which I am rapidly become one of!)
This is a must-read for all medical people but is especially suited to a Geriatric NP or Family Practice NP who see elderly patients regularly.

This story highlights the experiences of the American soldiers, sailors, and marines who participated in the major battles. Not only did they fight a determined enemy, they also battled the weather, the jungle, and the diseases that threatened to take their lives. Their writings, including a section of poems and songs of the era, reveal the thoughts and anxieties of the American fighting man, serving his country nearly 8,000 miles from home.

In 1895 Emilio Aguinaldo became the leader of Katipunan, a revolutionary society that sought complete independence from Spain. A year later, his ragtag band of soldiers defeated a Spanish regiment, a victory that incited the Filipino people to rise up against their oppressors. While the Spanish ultimately paid Aguinaldo to enter voluntary exile, in 1898, after the sinking of the ^IMaine^R, the United States would promise independence for the islands in exchange for Aguinaldo's return to lead an uprising against Spain. The U.S. State Department would later repudiate this promise, a move that would embroil United States troops in a bloody struggle to subdue the islands. This is their story.

Dont waste your money

I don't even know where to begin to use this book. It is not helpful as I am struggling with this class. There is no solution manual to help me learn the problems either. We are not using it in class but my professor suggested we could work for practice. It may be useful as a fire starter.

I love it so much I'm buying it...again!

I have given this book away to different school's where I have taught in Minnesota, and in Mexico (Chiapas, San Luis Potosi). Now I find myself teaching again, and I need it! I'm ordering another copy from Amazon.com!
This book gives ESL/EFL students the repetition they need, and it makes it so simple, that they don't mind the work! It is page after page of photocopiable worksheets that start from zero--the verb "to be" and goes on to advanced.
You can use it for extra practice specific area for a student who needs it, or for everyday class worksheets, quizzes, homework, or games (I put one item up at a time, and see who comes up with the correct answer first)...
After I know my students understand a concept I make sure they can put it into practice in many different ways. This book is the easiest way I've found to do that. English Structure Practices has all the bases covered...including exceptions to rules that I may not have remembered.
It's VERY THOROUGH! And that's how my students want to learn and I want to teach; thoroughly!

About the Author
David Mac, a native of the great state of Michigan, now lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas where he raises his two teenage children and tries to remain true to his self imposed retirement from his outlaw profession. A causality of the Drug War, Mac no longer votes, owns a firearm, posses a passport nor travels into Canada for his once loved fishing trips. He also holds scant hope of ever running for political office. Although he sold out much of his honor, he still maintains a little pride. But, such is the life of an outlaw. Mac does spin a fair yarn though, and this is his first published work. Barring a cosmic phenomena, this will also be his last.

Money Still Grows On Trees

When Money Grew on Trees: The True Tale of a Marijuana Moonshiner and the Outlaw Sheriff of Madison County, Arkansas

From time to time we pick up a book we just can't put down, "When Money Grew on Trees" was that book for me. I recieved this book for Christmas having heard about it for sometime, but verbal descriptions of the contents of this book does not do it justice. Sure there are many edit issues, but I did not find them distracting what so ever. I used to drive through this county on my way to the University of Arkansas and for years I would see the "Ralph Cares" bumper stickers. It was sometime later when I discovered Ralph was Sheriff Ralph Baker. From the numbers of residents that benefited from knowing Sheriff Baker as a person that would lend a hand to the one portrayed in this book is quite a stretch. As with most truths somewhere in the middle lies the actual truth. I did not know him nor David Mac. But I did know enough about him to be shocked by David Mac's suicide at a Wall-Mart Store in Fayetteville and likewise to learn of the death of Sheriff Baker. For those of us that have grown up around low water bridges, we are all too familiar with the disastrous consequences of crossing one at the wrong time. I cannot believe Sheriff Baker had an accident of that nature from a river he had most likely crossed hundreds of time.

Whatever the truths are, this book is really worth reading. Fascinating, exciting come to mind. My son told his mother to say goodbye to dad for a while; he is going to be in that book until he is finished. He was so right. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the all too familiar stunts he pulled. The author took an interesting approach to letting the reader know that bad news was ahead. I found myself knowing it was going to be bad and still found it exciting when the bad event finally happened. Reading this book is like a bad car wreck, yes I need to look away as I know what I am going to see, yet I look anyway.

If there ever was a book that needed to be made into a movie, this one surely is the right book. Hopefully someday someone with that ability will decide to make a movie about the Marijuana Moonshiners of Booger County.

Unexpectedly brilliant!

This book was the most brilliant read I've had in years! I learned more about Sheriff Ralph Baker and his nafarious exploits than ever. I'd always heard the rumors about his double dealing, but I never knew he was so outlandish. Murder, suicide, drugs and arson, this book has it all!

Green Acres... At Least for a While

It just amazes me how these weed growers, as first time authors, write so well. But the farther I got into the book the more errors I found that were not caught in editing. It makes me wonder what the "Macster" was smoking as he re-read the manuscript. (Not really. I think we're all pretty sure.)

To paraphrase the author, he came from Michigan to the Ozarks with a jar full of seeds and a head full of ideas. Fifteen years later he'd been to prison, lost a wife, a brother and an uncle, got his father arrested, owned a ranch, lost a farm, and in the end he had nothing but memories to show. Oh, and this book, which probably makes that whole journey worthwhile.

The author has a good sense of humor, even in some bad situations, and he never views himself as a victim. Everyone knows what he's doing, everyone knows the sheriff is in on it, and no one cares. His description of his hillbilly neighbors and comparisons of the Ozarks to the TV show Green Acres is hysterical.

Very quick and easy reference for any ancillary diagnostic or laboratory test. Information is easy to read and to the point. Quick and easy with great explanations. I would recommend this for any nurse or clinician as a vital tool in learning as well as easy to explain to patients.

it is safe to say this book was a good investment.

I took this to work for myself and the other nurses I work with. I use it frequently. My co-workers use this book frequently. Even some of the doctors use it. Well worn, and sitting out on the nurses desk, even when I've been off work for a few days, it is safe to say this book was a good investment.

I think it's the best lab book out there. Gives you a lot of differentials if you have abnormal blood work and not sure what's going on. Especially if doing a screening lab and you end up with the a very unexpected result.
